My kit lens is not so bad after all

Took some shots with my 18-55 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. This lens has done me well...only drawback is lack of UWA, which would be especially helpful with such a large subject matter. I was always under the (false)impression that this lens was crap, but I am continually amazed at the sharpness and color reproduction. I plan on going back when I get my 10-22 UWA to compare.
The sky was much darker than what appears here. I guess I should have used spot vs. evaluative metering.
I underexposed by two stops to emphasize shadows. I have to give credit, though, to brilliant architecture lighting.
This one is pretty dark, but my amazing lens was still able to capture enough detail to make it interesting.
