You could always compare raw output processed the same way from each camera, which ideally should give you a fair comparison.  Check out the one done by dpreview:

I compared the rx100, s100, xz-1, and g1x. To my eyes,  the rx100 looks a lot better than the s100, and pretty close to the xz-1, though I might give the close call in favor of the olympus. The gx1 looks best, but considering it's got the biggest sensor and the biggest lens (which is considered quite sharp) I'm not that suprised.
