Thanks for uploading Joe, nice to see some real world examples.

What previous camera are you coming from? Any thoughts?

You're welcome.

I've uploaded more pix, and I have some low res pix that I've tweaked on my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sticksandstonesphoto/

I'm coming from a 5-year stint with the Nikon D300. Great camera, but it's too big and bulky for what I'm doing now. And it doesn't have the high ISO performance of the Pentax.

I've been a Pentaxian since the early 80s, so my first DSLR was the *istDS. It was a nice camera, but let me down in one too many times (at a wedding), so I got the Nikon. I also had the K10D for about a year, but it had focus issues.

My first impressions are numerous, but I'll keep it brief. The pictures are quite good! I don't want to get into pixel peeping, but looking at the files at 100%, the shots are very sharp. Better than the D300 with the 60mm Micro, which is an incredibly sharp lens. Of course, sharpness is dependent on lens. To date, I've used mostly older lenses: FA50/1.4, M28/2.8, M28/3.5, M100/2.8. I also used my only modern lens, the DA40 on a few of the earliest shots.

It's apparent that I have a lot to learn about this capable camera. I was thinking I could jump in and be ready to go in a short time, but after using the Nikon for 5 years, I need to learn the Pentax way of doing things. But I have no problem with that. It's nice to have a smaller camera that fits my hands so well. Much like my Pentax film cameras. It's still a bit heavy, but it's tolerable. Especially since I can now use my large collection of Pentax glass.
