D7000 w/wireless remote does not focus prior to release

Well, I use a 3rd vendor device, Webbers Remote Combo, though I don't think it makes any difference - IR commands are the same - at least they should. It does not have that half-press mode, though I feel the half-press click on the button, but when I press it full, the lens focuses and then a snapshot is made, and yes it is sharp. Before each snapshot I was setting the lens to infinity. I tried it in P and A modes, no difference in behavior. Works fine. Ah, yes, forgot to mention - I tried it in 2 AF modes in AF-S single point and in AF-C 9 points, no difference in output.

My camera is set to Focus priority in both AF-C and AF-S modes, maybe you have yours set to Release? Can't think of anything else that can be a reason of missing autofocus.
