I hope all the group east of the Mississippi to the Atlantic ocean are doing OK in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  I wish you all well.

Ten months of the year passed already.  There has been a couple of little snow squals through Missoula but all in all a pretty nice fall here.

No Nikon contamination in the post this week.  We get to look at some S5 images from my May and June trip to the southwest.

How about a few living things to make up for all the man built subjects last week.  Roses are always nice.

The red rose is not as bright as the orange one but the background really makes this stand out.

We have a California tree from Tehachapi Pass.  It is only June and already the grasses are dry.

The Capt. AL JAMES is a grounded Columbia River tug boat.  I am sure grounding the display is a far cheaper way to display the tug than trying to keep it on the water.  This is down near Umatilla, OR.

New Mexico rest stops have certain things to keep watch for.  When little Buffy heads for the hydrant keep an eye out for the native species in the sand.  Best to keep the dog on a leash so they do not explore out of sight.  The marker is for the Jefferson Davis Highway installed by the Daughters of the Confederacy.

We should not leave without a train photo from Niland, NM.  This is a pretty hot train of containers from California ports.  These containers are mostly 53' long so they have probably been transloaded from the international size which does not exceed 40'.

I haven't seen the metadata tag show up in any of the images yet.  Perhaps after they are posted passing the cursor over the lower corner of the image will bring it up.

If not, they are all S5 images taken with the Nikkor 24mm-120mm f4 VR lens except the tree photo which was taken with the Nikkor 70mm-200mm f2.8 VR I.  The 24mm-120mm was sure useful on the DX bodies but it is the lens commonly on the FX body now.
