OK it has to be said it's not fast That said the key I guess is is it fast enough? I had a short time to play this morning so thought I'd check focus speed on people walking towards me as that's probably as fast as I'm likely to need with it. I tried using the shutter button and a pre selected focus point but without huge success. I then set focus to tracking and that helped. Next I tried a combo of tracking, servo and touch focus/shutter and this was I'd say the most successful. I was sort of shooting from the hip as otherwise folk were avoiding me. I tried with the 22mm and 50/1.8 both wide open so minimum DOF. I've put some examples at reduced size herehttp://www.howardsheardphotography.com/Equipment-Samples/Canon-EOS-M/26257178_7qKpfw#!i=2186118106&k=HdGCKcQ jpeg OOC with LR3 sharpen for screen on export.
I'll see how it differs with other lenses and report back as I go.
