I would not spend any time trying for a 'double exposure'. (putting a big moon over a little horizon... it never comes out right, unless you are an Arteest, like Tedolf.
Get the 175 focused on the moon when the sky is still light, and grab some foreground. As said, the subject is the moon, right?
I've been trying these shots for awhile (moonrise, moonset) and struggling with them. This is from a vivatar 70-205 w/2x teleconverter on a gh2. It's not terribly nice, and the PP is highly questionable, but it's be best I've had yet (most natural looking; convey's 'what i see') for a moonrise.
