Mac and time stamps on imported pictures from Canon
Oct 30, 2012

I'm making the transition from Windows to Mac.  I noticed that when I imported pictures using the Canon utility from my Canon SLR to the Mac, the date modified and date created reflected the time of import, rather than the time the picture was actually taken.  (On the other hand, when I was doing it on my PC, the date modified, etc. reflected the time the picture was taken).

Is there a setting that needs to be set in the Canon EOS utility or is there something that I'm not aware of?  I'd prefer these fields to reflect the time the picture was taken.

The EXIF data though remains intact in terms of the picture creation time.

Thanks and apologies for this newby-ish question.
