Printing directly from Capture NX2

If this is the wrong forum to post this in please holler. I looked in the printing forum and it seemed obsessed papers and inks and this involves the  use of editing software, though admittedly not for editing...

My wife has a little Nikon D3200 and it's got fairly dubious auto white balance. Also she's not great at setting the WB by hand even though I programed the function button to make it easier. Given this, I recommend she shoot raw, which she did for a recent trip. When she came back I downloaded the pictures onto our mini-Mac and she printed them via Nikon Capture NX2. Now in the past, she just DPOFed her JPEGS and printed them directly and the pictures came out great. However, when printing form NX2 the color fidelity was poor and it was if all the pictures were underexposed. What is going on here and how do I fix it?
