Twin card slots. Essential for those doing weddings and anything where there really is no second chance if a card goes down.

I'm not sure if it's a good time to get a D300 or D300s at all. All the reviews keep saying how outdated it is but don't fall into the trap of thinking that the D7000 has replaced it. I pick up the D300s whenever I need to rely on a camera and the D7000 is there as back-up or for studio work where I am totally in control of everything (including the AF!).

In a crisis I look for the D300s and happily use it for weddings etc and that's having owned a D700 where having just the one slot put me on edge. The speed of the AF in the D300s and the ability to zoom in instantly on playback mean it's my most-used camera.

But I know that wasn't your question....
