Try closing one eye, perhaps you are being mislead by the stereoscopic effect. Things are also confused because the eye/brain only sees a very limited area sharply. For example we can only read a few words of text on a page or monitor without moving ones eyes. The camera can make a sharp edge-to-edge image of a newspaper page but we can't read it in one go.
In fact a photographic image has little to do with reality as we perceive it
