The X-Pro has a learning curve simply as that...
It took me a fair amount of time to get used to the OVF and understand how it works. Especially with years of using DSLR/SLRs and never really using anything else. An OVF placed off center to the lens has its quirks if it didn't the primary camera type on the market would be rangefinders and not SLR's.
However, IMO the ability to see outside of the image is an amazing creative tool and well worth the time and effort it takes to learn the OVF system.
If you willing to put in the time and learn how it works you will have no problem if not the XE-1 is probably a better bet...
In any case I even returned my first X100 thinking there was a problem when the problem was actually me for the most part.
