What's interesting is that if you pick up photo books with images made in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, what you see is a decrease in image quality. It becomes most apparent as 35mm took over, and at its worst with color. Most color 35mm photography from the 70s and after is rather poor quality. It's unfortunate that Galen Rowell, for all his talents, chose 35mm.
