Whilst I agree that the AF on the 5D3 is slightly better than the 5D3 (by a small but noticeable margin), I have not found that the 5D3 can compete with regards to reach.

IF the 5D3 AF works as well at f8 as the 7D AF does, then the difference will be negligible - but that remains to be seen. And the extra 2fps means, for me, the 7D is still the weapon of choice for reach limited action situations.
