Can't see focus peaking in EVF with peaking enabled on my new A99

I'm a new Sony user.  Is there a trick to enabling focus peaking?  (Other than turning it on in the Settings?)  I looked through the manual but, quite frankly, it's a little spartan.

I enabled peaking in the settings, but despite this focus peaking highlights don't ever appear in the EVF.  I set it to Mid.
