From a retired camera repairman -
Small = Fragile
Purse = dangerous place to carry small camera. (pressure, lint and dust, possibly of impact)
Honestly 3 years being carried around in a purse is about all you should expect. Just keep buying cheap. I have a micro 4/3 and it is small but not pocketable.
