Looking for C&C on a photo, please....

I think these two are technically better than the first, but I actually miss the detached melancholy of the first (in hindsight). It feels appropriate in the context of it being a shot from the end of a play, a play without a happy ending, that the shot has these qualities.

But then, I probably only think it has those qualities because I know the context in which it was shot?
