k-30 manual focus
Oct 27, 2012

I am new to dslr's.  I have a k-30 and got a pentax m 50mm 1.7 lens to try and learn with.

I was out shooting with an aperture of 1.7 and realize that it is hard to focus.  I shot a pine cone on a wood fence and could see how shallow the depth of focus is.

But, I really took some time and tried to focus on the front portion of the pine cone.  Even used focus peaking.  And when I look at the photos on my computer, the cone looks out of focus and it looks like the wood just in front of the zone is in focus.

I certainly realize that this could be me making errors in focusing, but I thought I would ask if its possible that there is a setting that could be messed up.  Is it possible that what I see thru the viewfinder could be different than what happens in the pic?
