Seriously - what is up with the down voting!?

Trying to participate in this forum, but it seems pretty much to be a waste of time.  The down votes themselves don't bother me, it is is more about what they represent... that people don't give a crap about you putting in your time and effort to post.

At the same time, I can read a thread that is something along the lines of "B&H/Amazon etc etc just sent a shipping update - hope to get my E-M5, 75, E-PL5 in the next couple of days" and this will get up voted?!

I wouldn't necessarily down vote it... but seriously, it is worth an up vote?
