In reply to Catallaxy, Oct 27, 2012

I have the D40 and a year ago last spring I bought the D3100. I had it for a few months then sold it and bought the D5100 which I love. It has a lot more features than the D40, particularly the bracketing, which I use a lot. The articulating screen is nice but I don't use it very much. The sensor on the D5100, I am told, is the same one as the D7000. I am very happy I bought the D5100 and plan to use it for some time to come. You really can't go wrong, especially with the price dropping. Good luck with whatever you decide.
