As Footski says the D5100 resets the shutter count at 10,000, actaully at 9,999. Your 6,000 could mean 6,000 or16,000 or 26,000 etc.. It seems to me a bit rediculous these days that the count does not go to 99,999.

As well as Opanda already mentioned, I quite like PhotoMe. It shows very detailed Exif data and even the camera serial number in some instances.
