Absolutely.  I did it a few years ago and have never looked back (after >20 years on IBM systems).

You need to know about

  • Finder, which is like File Manager and is where you'll find all your apps and data
  • System Preferences, which is like what I think is called Systems Manager in Windows and is where you set your preferences (networks to connect to, etc)
Mac is an excellent platform.  You'll hear a lot of vitriolic comment on both sides of this debate, but essentially it works very well.
I use Aperture, but PS works just fine.  Pretty much every app that runs on Win either runs on Mac or has a Mac equivalent.
Pop into an Apple store and have a play with a few systems.
