Sometimes (MS) ICE provides better panoramas than CS6. Howcome?

Can somebody explain why sometimes CS6 generates panoramas with visible bands (difference in luminosity ), whereas MS ICE handles the same pictures flawlessly.

Am I doing something wrong?

My processing is as follows:

  1. Capture (say) 20 overlapping (single horizontal row) NEF files with my Nikon D300 (all manual setting).
  2. Import those into LR 4.2
  3. In LR, process (if necessary) one of the middle frames and then (in Dev. module) synchronize the rest files with it.
  4. Finally, export all processed files to be merged as a panorama into CS6 (or export those as TIFFs and use these in ICE instead).
