My Dell laptop drives me nuts because when I type, the cursor jumps to a different location on the screen if my palm or a finger brushes the touchpad.  The solution I found is the free software utility called TouchFreeze which is reviewed here: http://www.techulator.com/resources/4847-Touchfreeze-utility-lock-your-cursor-while.aspx I did a search for it in this Forum and found no mention of it.  Hopefully it will help someone else.
