D200 vs D300
Oct 26, 2012

I am looking at upgrading my body from a D60.  I want to be able to use AF lenses in autofocus, and possibly even E series in AP mode rather than 'guess the exposure' manual mode.  Quicker autofocus, more points and a quicker drive are all considerations in the mix.  I will mostly be shooting motorbike racing.

I can have a D200 second hand for less than £200, with a D300 costing roughly twice as much.  So, which would you go for, and why?  Any other leftfield suggestions?  I am not overly keen to leave Nikon, but haven't felt uncomfortable on any of the other bodies really.

In terms of lenses, I haven't really got a huge amount, so wouldn't be losing massively if I switched.  I might eventually have the money for Canon L series lenses, but I think Nikon have upped their game significantly in the last few years, and have aggressively attacked the sports market which used to be Canon's exclusively.
