To be clear I have no experience with both. I love 600 II and use the lens most of the time for wildlife. Handholding & BIF? For me no problem (I'm mountain climber & MTB rider so I guess 10kg to lug is no problem), the weight of lens + TC 1.4 + 5DIII is 5kg and most of the time TC 1.4 is on so I guess 600 II mm is my right choice.
