FoCal must work this way. Otherwise, field curvature and the impossibility to exactly align target and camera would make the result meaningless.

However (as described in my blog), it is possible to determine best AFMA at each point. The resulting map is much more meaningful than the map of Q (which cannot be compared easily) and independent of aperture, lens aberrations, distance and pixel count. It does depend on the camera brand and lens maximum aperture though.
