Sony Image Data Converter is turning my pictures green!!

Hello all,

I'm fairly new to this RAW processing business. I've been playing around with some photos from my NEX-5 in IDC, getting the exposure, contrast etc. to what I think looks reasonable compared to the original shot, and then save them. When I open them again in IDC they look the same as before. However, if I open the adjusted photo in anything else, like Apple's Preview or iPhoto, they appear horribly distorted, all green and noisy. I'm at a loss what to do, it happens consistently with all photos. I also can't afford any of the big programmes like Photoshop etc. Dumbed-down answers would be much appreciated as I really am a newbie, thank you!
