Here's the actual quote, emphasis added:

"Within the Imaging System Business Unit, despite efforts to achieve sales growth with the competitively priced EOS Digital Rebel series along with the EOS 5D Mark III and EOS 60D advanced-amateur models, sales volumes of interchangeable-lens digital cameras decreased from the year-ago period due to a delayed new-product launch."

And you don't think that is marketing speak?

No, it seems quite clear. The existing Rebel Series and the 5DIII and 60D part of the plan for increased sales, but the lack of a new product that was to contribute to those increased sales did not happen due to an unplanned delay.

It seems slash gear read it the same way I did.

I wonder which product that is.

http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/10/canon-announcements-next-week-cr1/

"From reports earlier in the year, we’re still two short on the DSLR/Mirrorless announcements for 2012 and a few lenses as well. However, with the production problems Canon has had with lenses, it’s a good bet a lot of things have been delayed.

What DSLRs could be coming in 2012? The first would be the EOS-1D C becoming official, that would leave one more camera to be announced in 2012. My bet would have been on a Rebel T4, however we’re getting pretty close to the Christmas shopping season for an announcement like that."

A new model doesn't answer the question regarding why the models quoted did not meet sales goals.

It didn't say those products didn't meet sales goals, it said the entirety of the "interchangeable-lens digital camera" segment decreased in volume "due to a delayed new-product launch".

"EOS 7D Mark II, EOS 70D & 700D in 2013?"

"A new sensor line will appear in 2013 that will be seen across the entire APS-C lineup. Expect to see the first announcements in the first half of 2013. The delays in developing the sensor was apparently a big reason for the big firmware update for the 7D."

So, why did you imply in the subject that the 5DIII is the problem when Canon specifically said it was "due to a delayed new-product launch", and why did you intentionally cut out that piece of the sentence that you quoted?

I hope you are correct!!!!!

You mean, you hope Canon is telling the truth. I know nothing beyond what they said.
