Microsoft security Essentials is recommending removal of JAVA?

My Microsoft Seurity Essentials just quarantined several "severe" alert level items from JAVA (10/25/12). These appeared when I updated JAVA from it's popup prompt.."MSE recommends removal of this program".

What should I do here? I know there have been previous recent issues with Java. If I uninstall Java, am I likely to need it?
