Nikon 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 vs Tamron 70-300 f/4.0-5.6 ?

I just noticed that there's a Tamron with just about the same specifications ! Both lenses have vibration reduction, the weight and length are almost the same !

The price is 25% cheaper than the Nikon one !

Using the Tamron SP90 f/2.8 (non-Di) macro for more than 10 years and LOVING it, I wonder if this zoom lens is up to the same level as the "macro" lens ?

...and of course, is it as good, better or worse than the 70-300 Nikon ?
