5D Mark III vs 24-70 II - ?

I use 5D Mark II for travel and personal photography, so not a profession but a keen hobby. Collection of shots are wide angle (cities, nature, architecture, etc), people (street photography), animals and day to day stuff.

I have standard 24-105 f4, 50 f1.4, and 85 f1.8. I rarely use the 85. Day work is 24-105, and at night / dusk work is 50. I've been waiting for 35 II as a potential add-on.

The new 24-70 II looks like a possible 50 and 35 replacement except when I want shallow DOF. When I travel, I doubt I'll carry more than 3 lenses.

Sub 3000 USD Mark III deals have appeared, so wonder do I get a camera upgrade (AF, high ISO for evening and night shots on move, better CA control, silent shutter and probably better processing) or do I get the lens if I have 'holiday budget' to cover one or the other.…
