Nikon 5100, trying to fill a void with a len
If you are hiking around islands and want a lightweight tele lens the 55~200 is an excellent choice. It is lightweight and cheap yet produces sharp images. It also takes 52mm filters; they are much cheaper than larger filters and will also fit your 35mm f1.8. Personally I wouldn't be without a polariser. I like gads too.
There are other options that might offer better quality but they are more expensive and much bigger/heavier. You might want to use the 55~200 first then if you find it has limitations or is not as good as you want you will at least have a better idea what you do want before you part with your cash. T.b.h. I have a 55~200 beacuse my kids use it. I prefer my 70~200mm f2.8 VRII
