Image quality is equal or better (at high ISO). Much easier to carry around and more enjoyable to use. The only thing I miss occasionally is the ability to go ultra wide. I will probably go for the wide angle converter at some point. Because it is quite and unobtrusive in use, I have been getting candid shots I would not have had the confidence to take with my DSLR.
