Well said; and sad but true that anything more mathematically complex that simple numbers is lost by most people. Ratios? Rule of squares? Forget it! Its absolute numbers of pixels of the longest zoom that matters. Maybe a few of the elite hoy paloi (did I just coin a phrase?) get zoom ratio.
