70-200 f/4 VR3 vs 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 VR2. Thoughts?

Assuming the new 70-200 f/4 is as good as or close to the 70-200 f/2.8 VR optically, is it worth getting the new lens over the 70-300 f/4.5-5.6?

I would mainly use this lens for landscapes and cityscapes, stopped down to say f/8, so how it performs wide open is not as important. I know the 70-300 has a longer reach, but it's also not as good at the long end. I'm primarily interested in how the two compare in the 70-200 range.

I intend to use this on the D800.
