Do I need the life-size adapter to get 1:1 with my FD 50 f/3.5 macro when I have the NEX/FD adapter?

As the prompt says, I'm confused.

Against my better judgement, I'm adding to my little family of FD lenses.

I was able to score a Canon FD 50mm f/3.5 macro for $40 shipped but it does not come with the 25mm "life size adapter" for 1:1 shots.

My question is whether I even need the life-size adapter given that the fotodiox FD/NEX adapter, which is ~25mm long.
