Photo lab prints are darker than multiple monitors
Oct 24, 2012

I recently sent a number of photos to a photo lab for printing and turned out, all of them, about 0.75-1.00 EV darker than expected. By 'expected' I mean compared to all the monitors I viewed the photos on, including ones on different computers, uncalibrated and calibrated alike, two iPhones, and generally, any device with a screen that I could get my hand on.

I wonder why? Is it a problem with the particular photo lab? If I try, next time, to increase exposure it will burn the highlights; if I try to increase brightness, it will wash out the contrast.

Any thoughts on this issue?
