Would you straight swap your 70-200 F2.8 II for the new F4 version?

After looking at the specs on the new F4 I see that it's still not what I'd call a compact or light-weight lens. It's about the same weight as the 24-70 2.8 and that lens is a beast to lug around, which is why I finally sold it!

I never sighed with relief when I carried the 24-70 on my D700/D800 instead of the 70-200 VRII. Both are big lenses with a good deal of heft, so I don't see much of a bid deal with the F4 against it's slow aperture. I suppose if you don't do portraits the F4 would be okay.

Just another 2 cents.

Robert
