Day #1 - Recap - Nikon V2
|
#1- Nikon made enough changes to get the 1 system out of the DOA status and into intensive care.
#2- The hand grip, pop-up flash, redesigned dials and extra 4MP are a great update. (or what they should have been from the beginning, depending on ow you look at it)
#3 - The V2 body looks like the sci-fi child of two transformer robots
#4- The MSRP of $899 makes it way too expensive for what it offers
#5- The addition of the 35mm F/1.2 lens makes perfect sense for the small 1" sensor and it is a clear lens advantage Nikon can claim over the competition.
#6 - The smaller battery is an inexplicable step backwards, but no big deal.
#7- Nikon actually listened to it's customers and made changes as opposed to listening to the fanboys who kept saying that the Zeppelin was perfect.
If Nikon really wants to move the 1 system into serious competition with Sony and Oly they need:
- Fast Primes- 6mm F/1.2 + 10mm F/1.2 + 18mm F/1.2
- CLS control
- Wi-Fi
- In-Body stabilization
- Drop the price to realistic levels
