Re: Objective views on Leica M lenses
In reply to zerozeronine, Oct 24, 2012

I've owned Canon, Nikon, Tamron, Sigma and Leica lenses over many years. The lens I return to over most others is the 35mm f/2 Summicron-M ASPH. It has higher micro-contrast, line resolution, and better bokeh than just about any other glass I own. The 21mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH comes close to the 35mm Summicron-ASPH, but my all-time favorite is the 90mm f/2 APO-Summicron-M ASPH for sharp, contrasty rendering.

Those late-model Leica lenses are higher in optical quality than Canon-L glass, and I own L-lenses from 16mm-35mm to 500mm.They're also better than the Nikkor 80mm-200mm f/2.8 ED I used to use.

So it's not just the Leica name you're buying, there is a visible difference - if you can afford it. However, you can make saleable photographs with any reasonable quality lens and camera. It has a lot to do with your familiarity with your tools and the story you want to tell.
