Lexar 1000x Download Speed Benefit with FireWire Reader?
Oct 24, 2012

In effort to speed workflow I'm considering adding some Lexar 1000x cards and a Lexar USB 3.0 reader.  Would also need to install a USB 3.0 card in my Mac Pro.

Currently using Lexar FireWire 800 reader; question is whether I will see enough of an improvement with USB 3.0 reader/card to justify the extra cost.  Will I still benefit from the Lexar 1000x read speeds on my current FW800 reader?

I shoot a D3s for youth sports, 12-bit RAW lossy compression, currently using Lexar 300x cards.  Not concerned about write speed as I don't fill the buffer as it is - use controlled bursts.  It's all about faster download times to my Mac.
