If you are looking at cheap wide-angle adaptors, you may wish to get one for each camera. The image quality is going to degrade the larger the effect. A brand name 0.7X adaptor is usually good, by the time you get to a cheap 0.45X adaptor there may be some serious image issues. I think the adaptors are designed to be "not too sensitive" on how far from the lens the are, although the farther away the more likely to vignette. I would look first at the name brand adaptor, i.e. if you have a Canon the Canon 0.7X. eBay adaptors may be much cheaper but I would be concerned about returning them if they do not work well. I had a Sony 0.7X on my old camcorder and it worked well but it did add a lot of weight.
