Would you straight swap your 70-200 F2.8 II for the new F4 version?

Hi All

Seriously considering this.  I just wondered if a dealer might do this and if so, I think I would be tempted. The 2.8 is an amazing lens but not always practical.

What would you do?

I'm actually trying to understand how I would use this lens differently from my Tamron 70-300mm VC lens. The Tamron proved to be amazingly sharp and delivered beyond my expectations and has a really good VC mechanism. Agreed its a stop slower at the telephoto end, but it's longer and costs only $350 brand new, so buying this Nikon lens for a $1,000 wouldn't make sense to me.

Now the 70-200mm F/2.8 is a whole other beast and would be money well spent, so no, if I were you, I don't see why I would replace one Nikon lens for the other; if the point is to save money, I'd probably replace with the Tamron.
