External mic possibilities for DMC-FZ150?

Several years ago I bought the equivalent of the current Audio Technica ATR6550 condenser shotgun microphone.  The improvement was huge and, at $80.00, its a no brainer.  It doesn't make much sense to me to use a mic that is much beyond the sound capability of the recording device.  This compact and lightweight mic has no caché or snob appeal; it just greatly improves the sound qulity and directionality.
