Yes, that's the plan -buying a large external high-gamut display when I can cough up the cash, but for now using the 21" iMac display.

I've read the other thread about iMac vs. Mac Pro and find comparing the two isn't just a matter of finding the best benchmark number. A Mac Pro is no doubt a winner when it comes to hard drive/SSD expansion and probably RAM as well. And I suppose with PCI expansion slots you could get Thunderbolt, USB 3 and other useful stuff in an otherwise "outdated" computer. Very tempting, but then there's the cost of a monitor which I'd have to buy, and those high-gamut displays aren't exactly on the budget side... On the other side I could always buy a "cheap" display first (this would also allow for a matte monitor), then add a "pro" display later...

The Mac Mini is, from what the info I've gathered online, not a match for an i7 powered iMac, and the iMacs have better graphic cards. I'd also have to buy an external DVD-burner, display, keyboard and mouse with the Mini so I don't know how much I'd be gaining. From what I hear, Apple will be announcing new hardware later today -hopefully new iMacs as well, so we'll see what comes out of that.
