But these were all shot wide open according to your EXIF.  It's when you stop the lens down that you get a lag, at least with the SAL35f18 (the only lens I tried).  To be fair, using a long lens for moving subjects, you almost always end up using it wide open to maximise shutter speed, so if your primary use of the LA-EA2 is to make use of long lenses then this particular phenomenon may not be much of an issue.

I have hundreds of pix of quick focus after focus shots of fast moving subjects such as these cars at dusk, I will have to add the sequenced shots later to ilustrate but for now this is all I can show - Hand held, point camera, hold down and fire away and it just kept AF:
