Canon and Nikon stuck in the middle ages?

I went to the local Renaissance Festival in Houston over the weekend (a huge RenFest with thousands of visitors each day for over a month).  Naturally, I was looking at the cameras while watching all the people.  I saw probably 70% Canon, and 30% Nikon.  I saw one Pentax user (couldn't tell which one as he was gone too fast).  I think I saw a couple of older Olympus users.  I was using my OM-D.

Anyway, I guess you can say that Canon, and to a lesser extent Nikon, are stuck in the middle ages.
