Can anyone help with some product photogrpahy tips?

Hi Guys!
I accepted a product photography project for some cosmetics products of a new company what tips could you give me? How to photograph? Should I use a small lighting tent? Where to position the lights?What Power?
I got adquate equipment: Canon 7D 35mm 2.0 17-55 and 580EX2
I'd be happy for any help and tips from anyone who considers himself expert or claims to be
