28-300 vs 70-300 ?

Hi !

I need to get myself a "easy_to_go" zoom, with a reach of 300mm.....

I checked the 28-300 and 70-300 VR and both  have about the same maximum aperture -at equal focal length-: f/3.5 at 28mm. and f/4.5 at 70mm. ! The prices are proportionally "equals": the 28-300 ~30% more than the 70-300.....

Do you have -or have tried- both ? Which one, IYO, has he better AF speed, sharpness, in short is the best, throughout their range ?
